Tabi Socks

Hello and welcome to my first post of 2020 🙂

If you’ve been following my blog for awhile, then you know that I make these kinds of socks continuously. This particular pair was a Christmas gift to my daughter. The yarn is Premier Yarns Serenity Sock by Deborah Norville in the “Surf” colorway.

My tendency is to experiment each time I knit a pair, to see what works and what doesn’t, and just out of curiosity. I’m working to perfect the pattern for publishing, so I feel that it’s necessary to do this.

I did a couple of things differently on this pair. I used a different cast on, this time the Chinese Waitress cast on, as opposed to my usual cable cast on. It makes a sturdy chain like edge, which you can see pretty clearly on one of the socks in the 2nd pic. Also on this pair, I didn’t match up the stripes by rolling the yarn out to the same place I started the first sock. My daughter thought it was alright to have them asymmetric, and that was easier for me.

I’ve already bought a new skein of sock yarn for my next pair and cast on the first. Stay tuned, take care and thanks for reading 🙂
