In my last post I shared the first outcome of my hand spinning in my new colorway, Mid Century Autumn. It was a bulky single spun in all the colors of the colorway palette.
With this new skein, I used the same colorway, but took a very different approach: I spun 2 singles with the intention of making a 2 ply yarn, and I separated the colors, setting the peach aside for one single, and the remaining colors for the other single.
Here’s how it turned out, from singles to finished:

This luxury yarn is comprised of 45% Polwarth, 40% Alpaca (processed by me from cleaning to dyeing), and 15% Tussah Silk.
I really enjoyed seeing the dramatic difference a change of approach could make, and from just working with one palette of colors. Hand spinning is versatile in this way, and this is something I’m only beginning to learn about. I’ll continue on with my color and technique explorations, because I love to see the combinations.
Take care and thanks for reading 🙂
