This is the Color Wash Shawl by Taiga Hilliard, a free pattern to download on Ravelry. It was a great introduction to the basic vortex/boomerang shawl formula, and I had fun knitting it. It’s one of those knits you can watch TV to and not lose track of.
Although I thought I’d need several yarns, I only needed 2 for most of this project and a 3rd and 4th towards the very end. For the last few very long rows I dropped in this handspun gray yarn:

This yarn is made from home processed fleece. It’s a natural gray, It was very greasy and hard to wash, I carded it up with sari silk and white suri alpaca. You can read about my fleece experience here.
I think it worked well with the rest of the handspun greens and rainbow acrylic. It was like a mellow ending to a lovely day.
I ran out of the glitter mohair too towards the end and had to order Kidsilk mohair from Rowan (mentioned in my previous post) Pic of the discontinued mohair glitter label:
Thanks to my daughter for letting me use this now rare yarn from her stash. I used some of it on my Enchanted Mesa, and I finished the skein with this project.
The ends took a while to weave in, there were a lot of them. It wasn’t difficult though, just a bit tedious, as yarn end weaving tends to be.
Here’s the finished vortex shawl, sitting folded on a table with it’s loose unwoven ends:

And here’s me wearing it:

My entire outfit is me-made: Pants, Vogue 5854. Yes I still have and wear these!
Top: self drafted and never blogged about. Socks: Toestep Tabis, my own design, for sale in my shop and on Ravelry.

All in all a very fun and easy knit that makes a really dramatic scarf/shawl.
Thanks for reading 🙂
