Mending My Jeans With Embroidery

Continuing on this project that I began during last month’s Mend March, I’ve now completed the embroidery outline. I patched over the worn out stretch denim with some new denim. Then I finally decided to use the large stencil shown in the video in the linked post above. I had thought it was too large for the area I was covering, but it turns out that it was just the right size:

I cut half the stencil out, and just flipped it for the other side. Cutting a stencil like this is hard work, so I stitched it in 2 parts instead. I used June Tailor Pattern Stick to hold the stencil in place while I marked the stencil lines. Here’s the finished design:

I’m still contemplating whether or not to fill in the outline or just leave it as is. Either way, I just love it! So glad I got back to hand sewing, the effects that can be achieved with it are so cool. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments.
