Today’s theme matches perfectly with the repair this hand towel needs. I crocheted it about 10 years ago and it’s made of 100% cotton yarn. It’s seen a lot of continuous use and been through the wash many times. Recently it began to fray at the edge, so I set it aside for this event:

I had a remnant of kitchen cotton in a a similar color that worked well, and also shows the visible mend:

The mend technique is crochet, the same as the towel itself. It took a few tries to get it right but wasn’t too difficult, and now I’ve got it back. I wove in the extra thread with a yarn needle down along the edge towards where the other fray is happening. That should help seal it for awhile. It’s good to know it has more service life left, and that all it took was a simple mend 🙂
