This July 2023 marks my 10th anniversary here on WordPress.
I’ve been busy lately working on publishing my first sewing pattern, a dream I’ve had for a long time. I also realized that I’ve never shared a pic of my workspace in the entire 10 years I’ve been blogging, probably because when I first started out I used the living room. I have an actual dedicated workroom now, something I only dreamed about 10 years ago. I’m a believer in the concept of creativity being messy, and my table is always full of projects, tools and everyday items.

I put a lot of work into setting up this room – it needed repainting and flooring. I laid the laminate all by myself, which meant learning to use an electric saw. Cutting tiles to fit around a doorway undercutting a door jamb were also required skills I had to learn. The desk and chair were left by the previous owners, and I decided that I could repurpose them. I’d never had an actual desk for my machine, and here was one for free. The paint was dingy and dirty so I took the easiest path and sanded away the grimy paint for a distressed look. That was the quickest way I could think of to get it ready for use and believe me, that alone was plenty of work. If you look at the chair you’ll get an idea what the desk looked like before it was sanded. It’s painted the exact same color and I didn’t bother with sanding it, the desk was more important and I was seriously tired of sanding by that time! But it’s a useful desk and chair and I’m happy to know that I saved them from the landfill.
From my first post to this one, it’s been a cool journey. I’d like to thank my husband for the suggestion to start blogging, it was some of the best advice I’ve ever had.
I’d also like to thank all of you, my readers, for following my blog and taking an interest in my work, it means so much to me ❤
