Enchanted Mesa Part 1

I first saw this pattern back in 2014, here on WP, on a knitting blog called February12. I thought it was an awesome design, and put it on my “must knit someday” list. I’m happy to say that I’m finally knitting it, and that plans made a long time back do come true!

The pattern is by Stephen West, one of the masters of modern knitting. It’s an asymmetric sweater design with eyelet stripes that create a sweep of visual drama. I gathered up all my stash leftovers, and my daughter kindly gave me some from her stash, which helped a lot. It’s really a great pattern for stashbusting, but for as free form as it is, it does require continuous consideration and planning.

Here’s how it’s coming along:

I’m still happily knitting away at it as of the writing of this post. We’ve had an unusually cold spring here, and knitting a sweater didn’t feel the least bit out of season. I’ve been too caught up in knitting it to thread it onto some yarn so I can check the fit, but I think it will. I’m using a 40″ Addi Rocket2 Skacel circular with square tips. It’s my first time using squares, and it took a bit of adjustment to get used to the feel, but the needle is very lightweight, so no strain at all.

As always, take care and ty for reading 🙂
