Burda 6764

Happy Mother’s Day!  It’s been a good one so far for me:  the weather is beautiful and I finally had a chance to wear and photograph my latest make.

The pattern is Burda 6764, a wrap front top that has the wrap closed at the side seam.  It has gathering on the upper sleeves and can be made up in long or short sleeves.  I made View A.

It was a fairly easy make,  but as with many Burda patterns,  the shoulders are sized for a taller woman with broader shoulders,  and I found that the oversizing of the back panel made the front too loose.  I had to tack the fronts together to keep it “together”.   I think that I probably could’ve cut the back a size lower to compensate for the largeness, or made an adjustment to the back pattern.    I used twin needle stitching for all the topstitching on the shirt,  and the pattern recommends that anyway.

The top is lower cut than I thought it would be, however it’ll be good for the hot weather.  If I make the long sleeve version of this, I would time it for the late summer/early fall season.

The fabric is a stretch knit by Nicole Miller bought at Joann’s.  I think that, despite the slight fitting problem,  I achieved a store bought look.  It’s a good pattern choice for that reason alone.

Take care and thanks for reading 🙂
