V1419 Sewalong: Nearing Completion

I’m approaching the completion of my sewalong journey.   I’m currently finishing up work on the buttonholes.  Each one is individually bound with bias tape and slipstitched by hand to the lining.  For this section of the coat I bought some special fabric:  aubergine silk taffeta from Mood.   The welt pockets are also lined with this.  It’s awesome to work with,  just really beautiful fabric.  After this come the bar tacks,  which act as spacers for the buttons.  These will also be hand sewn,  as they’re made of thread.   Then,  finally, the buttons!   If you want to see the progress of this and other people’s Ralph Rucci coats, just visit the flickr sewalong page,  here.
